I sometimes wonder if they - or at least the younger ones - resented when I started growing in ways they did not understand." For the briefest of moments, she allows herself to remember the look on Lucy's face when she'd mentioned how she first coped with their deaths. Then she sets it aside: there's no point in dwelling.
